While FirstEnergy does not directly serve electric distribution customers in Virginia, it owns and operates the electric transmission system in the region previously served by its affiliate, The Potomac Edison Company (a former subsidiary of Allegheny Power). Electric customers in FirstEnergy’s Virginia transmission zone are directly served by Rappahannock Electric Cooperative and Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative.
