Applying for a position at FirstEnergy

When you see a position that fits your skills and expertise, you can apply directly online by uploading your current resume. Our online application system also lets you track the status of your application and sign up for job posting email alerts. A quick and simple way to apply for open positions is to create your candidate profile. You can register on our site by clicking the View My Profile link and creating an account.

Employment testing

Some positions might require testing from the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), a trade association of investor-owned electric utility companies. Typically, the position description will indicate if employment tests are required. Go to our EEI Testing page to learn more.


FirstEnergy considers all qualified applicants. We’ll contact you for an interview if your application shows you are among the best qualified individuals for the position.

Pre-employment screening

If you are selected, we’ll make you an offer to join FirstEnergy. Once you accept, the following pre-employment screenings will be scheduled: a drug screen, a background check and, when applicable, a physical examination. All offers are contingent on successful drug screens and background checks, which typically take about two weeks to complete.

Employment offer

You’ll receive a welcome package containing a letter with details of your position, information about an orientation session and other important aspects of our company after you have accepted our offer.
