  • When should I complete my moving request?

When you move into an area served by one of FirstEnergy's operating companies, one of the first things you'll want to do is to sign up to start electric service.

We may require a minimum of two business days for us to process your service request using this form. FirstEnergy will reply via email to confirm our ability to meet the turn-on date requested.  If you would like your service request processed sooner, please call our Contact Center instead of using this form.

Note: A security deposit may be required prior to starting service.

  • What if my move-in date changes?

If your move-in date needs to be changed, please Contact Us as soon as your can.  It's not likely, but if for any reason we are unable to turn on service for the day you requested, we will contact you in advance.

  • How do I transfer the account to me from the previous owner/tenant?

The current occupant's account will not be transfered to you.  Each customer has a separate account that will be assigned to you after the move-in process is completed either online or by phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What do I need to stop my service?

You will need the following information to stop service at your current location.

    • Account number
    • Service address
    • Contact phone number
    • Email
    • Move-out date (date service should be turned off)
    • Mailing address
  • When should I schedule my move-out request?

Typically, the first available move-out date will be at least one working day from the current date. The move-out date you select must be a company work date which typically excludes weekends and holidays. The online move-out form presents a calendar, which shows non-work dates as non- selectable. Additionally, a particular date might not be selectable if the company work schedule is already full for that date.

Be sure to verify that you will not need service on the date that you are requesting the shut off since the service could be shut off in the morning. If electricity will still be needed, you might want to change the shut-off date to the next business day.

    Exceptions

    Pennsylvania (Residential Only)

    • Any remaining occupants residing at the move-out service address must be given at least ten (10) days notice prior to the turn-off. For this reason, the first available move-out date will be ten (10) days from today's date.

    Ohio

    • Some landlords may have contractual arrangements that require us to provide at least three (3) days advance notice of a turn-off. In these circumstances, the first available move-out date will be three (3) days from today's date.
    • If everyone at the property is not moving out or if the request is made by an apartment manager or owner, the system will create a 10-day occupancy notice.

    New Jersey

    • A realtor or attorney may request service to be ended, in addition to a residence owner, renter, spouse, or relative.
  • What if my moving date changes and I need to delay my stop service date?

If you need to change your move-out date for any reason, please Contact Us as soon as possible.

  • Who can submit a stop service request?

A move-out request can be submitted by the residence owner, renter, spouse, or relative.
